Two Different Celebrations: Halloween And Christmas

Think of the biggest celebrations in America. What comes to your mind? Maybe, Halloween and Christmas. They are celebrated huge in America. They look quite similar, and it is true, but has differences, too.

Halloween and Christmas doesn't come together easily that much, but it has similarities. First, it is the representative celebrations at America. Well, Christmas is not only for the states, but it sure is huge at America. Peoples prepare for them before months. They buy costumes and decorations for Halloween and prepare for Christmas tree woods and also decorations. They decorate their houses with lots of things, graves, skeletons, and jack-o-lanterns, or candles, Santa Claus dolls, socks and light bulbs. And second, it is a celebration that every one can enjoy. Everyone is happy in these days. Little boys, and grandfathers, every one! At Halloween, kids do trick-or-treat and adults give them candies smiling. Everyone enjoys wearing costumes of their own. Christmas, all the families gather together and have a warm dinner. They give presents each other, and say to everyone that you meet, "merry Christmas!"

But they definitely have differences, too. Christmas is almost a celebration all over the world, but Halloween, not exactly all over the world. There are many people who don't know what Halloween is. It is not very famous in Korea, too. And costumes! Christmas is not a day for costumes. Well, some might wear them like Santa Claus and some angels like that, but Christmas, they usually do not wear costumes like Halloween. The biggest difference is the origin of these. Halloween is a day that to kick out all the bad spirits out. And it is the day before All Saints Day in the Christian religion,(November 1st) and it came from the Celt's Samhain. If Halloween is for the dead, Christmas is to celebrate a birth, the famous man in the world, Jesus. For that at Christmas, people try to act like what Jesus did: "With love."

Both are very-loved celebrations, but have clear differences from its origin, and the ways they celebrate. Anyway, it is sure that if the nature of these doesn't change, these two will be loved forever.

3.These particular words or lines struck me as powerful: Halloween is a day that to kick out all the bad spirits out. And it is the day before All Saints Day in the Christian religion,(November 1st)
    4. These lines or parts could be improved : Anyway, it is sure that if the nature of these doesn't change, these two will be loved forever because I think it's a little bit short and imformal though it is just my own opinion :)
    5. I think it's very clear and easy to understnad, so I hardly find somthing that needed to be improved.

    1. I enjoyed reading your work! I agreed with many points you have.
    2. Your main point seems to be that two different celebrations- Halloween and Christmas are different but also similar
    3. I liked "They decorate their houses with lots of things, graves, skeletons, and jack-o-lanterns, or candles, Santa Claus dolls, socks and light bulbs." because i could picture the scenes.
    4. The last sentence of the conclusion! Sounds too informal and somewhat weak...
    5. I suppose it would be better if you pay little more attention to the ending of your writing!
