How to Get a Good Grade

All the students want to get a good grade, but it seems to be hard to get a good grade. However, it is not an impossible mission. I am one hundred percent sure that anyone can get a good grade. Students who get a good grade have some good habits. The first one is planning and second one is preparation and review. If you plan well and prepare the class and review the class thoroughly, you can get a good grade.

The first secret to get a good grade is planning the study. Plan is one of the most important things in our life. If you want to success, you have to do plan at first. Especially in studying, you have to plan what you study. Planning study has several advantages to get a good grade. First, you cannot miss what you have to do. For example, when you are studying English vocabulary, you can allocate the amount that you have to memorize by planning, so you can achieve your goal. Another advantage of planning is that you can do what you have to do fast. In other words, plan is your short-term goal so you achieve the goals and then you can achieve your real goal that is to get a good grade.

The second way to get a good grade is preparation and review. The advantage of preparing study before class is that students can concentrate the class well because they know the contents of the class. On the other hand, students who do not know the contents of the class cannot understand the class so they are not interested in the class. Review is also important as well as preview because we cannot memorize everything in the class for a long time. Therefore, a student who wants to get a good grade must review the class as soon as possible. In this way, they can reduce the amount of study when they are preparing the exam.

As you can see, there is not special way to get a good grade. All you need to do is that you plan what you study well and preview and review the class thoroughly. There is no next time. Never put off what you have to do today until tomorrow. Then, you must not only get a good grade and but also your life is successful.

Good English Writing

A great number of non-native English speakers find it more difficult to speak or write than to read or listen. This is probably because expressing one's ideas and thoughts is not an easy job. Producing some pieces of information or knowledge in written form requires quite a few steps and extra efforts. Among them, there are two most important factors for good English writing: idea or information gathering and language features

Firstly, one has to know what he or she is writing about. Before writing, there should be brainstorming where the writer gathers relevant and useful information or knowledge to develop the writing. Depending on the topic type of the writing, one has to decide what kind of content is needed. At the same time, the writing needs to be processed in an organized with a structure. In opinion writing, for example, one has to have rigid reasons for his or her opinion. Examples and details should be included to support the ideas. In all writings, the writer's stand should be clear and the readers should be able to catch the message from the writing.

Another factor that contributes to good English writing is language. Because it is writing in second language, more emphasis is put in language features. For non-native English speakers, it is hard to produce perfect English. They might have punctuation problems, grammatical mistakes or wrong vocabulary selections. Such mistakes are not big problems if messages are delivered. However, if there are too many mistakes, readers can be distracted. This means the piece of writing work is not very good one. Thus, it is important that the writer goes through editing process. Careful reviewing of writing will give a chance to the writer to find mistakes and correct them. Eventually, it will result in refined, though not perfect, English writing.

In short, two requirements for good English writing are idea gathering and editing language features. Therefore, one has to be able to get together information and knowledge and refine the writing after finished. It is exactly the same as buying fresh and quality ingredients and cleaning well in cooking.

Losing weight

Losing weight seems to be one of the hardest things to succeed. There are so many delicious foods in the world and it's hard to bare the lure to eat them. Also some circumstances like dinning with people makes it hard to do a diet. However, some people succeeded in losing lots of weight and what all those people advice to be the most essential thing in succeeding in a diet is: balanced diet and exercise, great patience.

The first thing you have to do in order to lose weight is watching what you eat. Don't reduce a huge amount of food you eat in a short time. It's important to help your body to get used to the decreased amount of food. If not, after accomplishing your goal and going back to the usual diet, you'll go under the yo-yo effect. Also, eat low calorie food, especially protein. Avoid liquor and coffee as possible as you can and don't eat greasy food. With the balanced diet, you should exercise consistently. It helps your muscles to grow and since muscles burn fat, it is important to exercise while watching your diet.

Moreover, in order to do both things I mentioned above, having great patience is another important thing you need in succeeding a diet. A lot of people quit easily because they don't lose weight in a short time. Also there are some reasons that make them hard to keep to the diet and the exercise. So many people just give up for diverse reasons and end up gaining more weight than before they started to be on a diet. So the people who succeeded in losing weight say you should be patient and should do image training which is to think constantly about your well fitted body after you accomplish your goal.

These are the most beneficial things that successfully dieted people advise that you should do.  With a balanced diet, constant exercise and having patience to keep to the diet and to wait for the results, you'll be successful in losing weight.

To Make A Successful Relationship With People

"Human being is a social creature." This is what Aristotles said. And it is very true. Every day we make relationships with other peoples. Family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and even slight ones like mailmen and securities; these are all relationships you make for your whole life. And there are two things to make this relationship successful and great: sincerity and consideration.

To make a relationship, the most important thing is sincerity. If you face people with a true heart, at first they may not face you truthfully, but finally they will realize your heart and do the same to you. Because they can feel that you are respecting them and have interests to them. So they decide to get close with you. But if you are acting dissemblingly, they will notice and won't be close to you. Sincerity works everywhere. Like in a speech, confession, or propose. This shows how important this is. And it is sure that it's a best way to get close to peoples.

Another thing is consideration. How do you feel when you see a selfish person? Does he look great because he has a perfect self-esteem? No, maybe. You might get tired and turn away from him. Same with this, if you don't think of others and just do what you want, you might have peoples around you, but really just "around" you. You are not making a good relationship. Think of others feelings first, and think how my actions will affect them. And they will do the same thing to you, too. Then this leads to a nice relationship without a conflict.

With these two things; sincerity and consideration, there will hardly have problems with making a relationship. It sounds very simple, but it is not very easy as we think. It takes time and effort to show these. But if these are understood, it lasts almost forever. So just show what's inside your heart. Then there will be always good peoples around you.

Finding a Job as a Private Tutor

After my graduation from high school, I had to looking for some part-time jobs because I needed pocket money, but my parents want me to earn my pocket money by myself. Many university students give private lessons for making pocket money, so I tried to find some of it. But it's hard to do by myself for the first time, so I planned to practice two specific strategies for finding jobs.

One strategy was used to looking for a tutoring job. I tried to make some project for finding students who want to take private lessons and put them into practice step by step. First, I chose the subject, math that I can teach confidently. After choosing the subjects, I made fliers including my personal information for a tutoring job. I wrote down my cell phone number, majors, the name of the university, and all grades related to the subjects I would teach and my work experiences as a tutor. I had to be careful at this step because I should prove a special ability of mine that makes me different from other people who also find students taking private lessons. And then, I went to a stationary store and a book store located near my home and asked a clerk that if I put the fliers up on the walls. I waited for someone to call me. And finally, I got a phone call from a mother who was looking for a tutor for her daughter. I was so glad to take that job and talked with her to decide a pay, proper time and place to visit.

The other one was forming good relationship with the student that I have taught. When I met my student for the first time whose name was Bo-Yung and attended to high school, I tried to show my kindness and willingness to be friendly to her. Because I already knew from my own experience that teens are very sensitive, so I tried to understand them and teach them patiently. And I just did my best to teach her by giving her proper homework, checking it weekly, and talking about her grades with her parents regularly as well. I found that it is also important to give advice not only in the study field, but also the sources of troubles that she had, even a small thing to a university students as I am. By sympathizing with her and giving sincere advises, she could open her mind to her and tried to study hard more than she ever had been. After 3 month later since I have studied with her, she grades improved and I could get extra money for that.

By doing these two strategies, I could find my tutoring job to earn my pocket money, form good relationship with my student and be confident myself for achieving my goal as a tutor, improving Bo-Yung's grades. Therefore, it's my experience for being successful and it could be possible based on two reasons.

Before she became a star

Kim Yu-na is the most popular person all over the world. We call her a big star. She became an irreplaceable person in figure skating. She has made people watch her every show with breathless interest. We all know that she has made efforts day and night for her perfect performance. But there are two main reasons to make her a big star.

First, she gave up many things, especially friends. I had ever seen a TV program about her. It was when she was not that famous, but I was interested in her because she was around my age. She looked so cute, and the image she practiced staking seemed nice as well. I felt just envious of her. After a few years, she became very popular. And many media cover her story. I got to know that she had hard time training because she had no friends. Her mother made her alone, which was a kind of her strategy only to make her daughter be absorbed in practicing. Kim Yu-na confessed that she hated her mother because she really wanted to go out with many friends and enjoy freedom, but she couldn't. I felt sorry for her to envy her because of her great appearance a few years ago. But for her mother's strategy, she could practice more and grow strong. So she also confessed that she wanted to thank her mother. I think it is really hard thing for her to be alone and practicing just for career. But she finally overcame it.

The other factor to make her a big star is that she really enjoys what she is doing. There is a saying that a genius can't win one who does his best, and a person who tries his best can't win the one who enjoys what he does. She had to give up many things and practice a lot, but she could overcome all these things because she has loved and fully enjoyed figure skating. In one interview, she said she wanted to be a figure skating player again even in another life. And in her website like cyworld homepage, she sometimes uploaded her pictures. In her pictures, she always looks so happy and satisfied. Of course she is in the top position and gains fame and even a lot of money, so many people including me are easy to think that there is no reason not to be happy. But she lives under strong pressure to maintain her spot and she has to practice much harder. It might be much distressed to live as a star. But she can do better because she really enjoys skating.

I think she shows well that perseverance and patience are necessary to achieve something. And also we have to enjoy what we do first. Actually we all know well about these things leaded us to success. But it is not easy to put them into practice. She did it. What we really should follow her is her hidden efforts.

The Two Legends in Korean Baseball

The best baseball players made a debut for Korean baseball league in 1993.  They were Lee Jongbeom and Yang Junhyuck.  They were outstanding players when they were rookie. All the fans were surprising at their fantastic play. They are competed in rookie award and Yang Junhyuck won the award. However, when their teams met in the Korean series in their rookie season Lee Jongbeom led his team to win the Korean series and he won the Korean MVP. I think it is hard to distinguish their superiority when they were rookie. After that, they became a good rival each other.

They must have been the best player in Korean baseball league, but their play style was quite different. First of all, Lee Jongbeom's position was a shortstop. He was more famous for defense than batting. He was good at running. He ran 100 meter in 11 seconds. Thanks to his speed, he caught almost all of the balls in his areas. He was the best shortstop in history of Korean baseball league, but he is also the best hitter. He has the largest hit record and stolen base record a season. According to KBO (Korean Baseball Organization), he hit 196 hits and stole 84 bases in 1994. In contrast, Yang Junhyuck was not good at defense but he was a homerun hitter. He was famous his unique batting style which is hurrah batting style. When he batted, he threw his hands up in the air, as if he hurrahed. Despite his rough batting style, he has largest homerun and hit record during his carrier. According to KBO, he hit 350 homeruns and 2280 hits. I think his record is hard to break in 100 years.

They are player of quite different style; however, they have something in common. They have a lot of fans who thinks they are the best baseball player in Korea. People who do not know baseball even know their name, Lee Jongbeom and Yang Junhyuck. Another same thing is that similar to Yang Junhyuck, Lee Jongbeom hit a lot of homerun although he is not homerun hitter and he had a small frame. He always hit homerun more than 20 and his best record is 30 homerun a season. They are well known for their hustle play Lee jongbeom always dived to catch a ball or steal a base so his uniform was always dirty and Yang Junhyuck was always dead run for the first base, although he was definitely out. Finally, they are the anchor of their team. They were not simply a player of their team, they are revered as a father and coach in their team.

They were in competition with a good faith and thanks to their good rival, they can be the best player in Korean baseball history. Unfortunately, Yang Junhyuck, however, announced his retirement in this season to give opportunity for other young players to play, although he was one of the best players in the league. Not only his fans were sorrowful but also all the baseball fans were sad. Lee jongbeom was also truly sorry about his retirement. Even though we can see his paly anymore, his passion for baseball lives in the baseball fans' mind.

Between Men and Women

I read the book 'Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus'. The book is about the differences between men and women. We all know that men and women are ordinarily different. In the book, there are many points explaining how men and women are different. Among them, I'm going to pick one point and also find out something in common that is related in the point.

In 12th chapter, the title of it is 'How to ask for support and get it'. In this chapter, we could know how men and women differently think about asking for support and what they differently do to get it. Women don't feel any need to ask for support because they intuitively feel the needs of others and give whatever they can. Thus, women mistakenly expect men to do the same, but they don't. On the other hand, for men, whenever they have something to be helped, they just ask for support to women. And also men wait to be asked. They could not know what she wants until she tells that directly. But at this time, women should not demand for help. Men like to do things which are appreciated, but they hate to do things which are demanded.

But when they ask for support to each other, they are not asking something big and difficult. The only reason why they ask something for support is that both men and women really want to be taken care of by their partners. As an easy example, when something bad happens to them, women are just twisting their faces with worries and men are complaining that why these things happen to him. They might want to get some practical advice from their partners or to make them solve these problems, but what they really want is to be with their partners and hear words of comfort from them. Although the way to ask for support is different, what they want to be supported is same.

There are many situations where men and women can come into conflict with each other. These conflicts could be solved by just acknowledging the differences between them. The ways to be in harmony with men and women are not such great things. What we all have to do is just to understand and accept the differences. And furthermore, we should know that men and women really love each other.

Two different celebrations

There are many celebrations in people's lives such as a birth, a graduation, a wedding, and other annual holidays. What about New Year Celebration and Year End Celebration? They are meaningful because these ceremonies are the beginning or the end of a year. So, they have some similarities while also have some differences.

New Year Celebration and Year End Celebration are both meaningful in terms of remind past year that has gone or next year that will come. In New Year Celebration, people remind their new year's plans and usually have tendency to make themselves promises that they will achieve them perfectly, even though they often last only few days. Similarly, in Year End Celebration, they remind their past year and take time for self-reflection about what they achieved or their failures in doing something. In short, these celebrations make people think about their whole past year and coming year. Second thing is that on New Year Celebration and Year End Celebration, people often gather to celebrate themselves with lots of delicious food and the drinks. They throw parties and stay all night, enjoying the mood of celebrations. There are always many news or newspapers that deal with both celebration, for example, special programs for New Year Celebration or Year End Celebration are often broadcast on TV.

On the other hand, there are also big differences in people's attitude or feelings between New Year Celebration and Year End Celebration. On New Year Celebration, people make not only new, but also enormous plans that almost impossible to do. They often quit smoke or alcohol, beginning exercise or getting up early in the morning or studying hard, so it is quite productive day. In contrast, on Year End Celebration, people often feel that they should enjoy the whole day just drinking alcohol, getting along with their friends or family because it's just the last day of the year. People think that they can be an excellent person and it's not too late to start their new plans on a day after Year End Celebration, a New Year's Day. So, it is common that Year End Celebrations are just passed without meaningful things. The other thing is about people's feelings. On New Year Celebration, they often feel happy and hopeful, starting with the new day of a year. By contrast, on Year End Celebration, some people have tendency to feel sad, depressed or even desperate with the thought that they haven't achieved their new-year plans.

Therefore, New Year Celebration and Year End celebration are both meaningful because people can remind their meaning, gathering with their friends or family. However, there are also differences in people's attitude or feeling to them. New Year Celebration is more hopeful with making new plans, but Year End Celebration is little bit sad because of regret to their past year.

Two different works of art ?Transformers & Iron Man

Bumble Bee, Tony Stark, Sam, Mark2. These are the names that you might have heard at least once, when the movies Transformer and Iron Man became a big hit around the world. Both were quite impressive that it was a hero movie but the heroes were not a human born with superpowers. They are alike in some ways but also are different in other ways.

Machines like robots are the heroes in both movies. In the Transformers, the robots are the intelligent life from the outer space in the shape of man-made machines, usually cars. Similarly Iron man is also a robotic hero which is a man wearing a high technology suit. Both movies are the typical hero movies, showing the good ones always defeat the bad ones in order to save the world. Transformers fight against the Decepticons and the Iron man beats the villain. Moreover, there's a beautiful woman who helps the main characters to accomplish their goals. They don't do a major task but they give the definite help when the hero is in danger. Also, they were both produced in comic books by Marvel Comics and the same production crew made both movies.

Although Transformers and Iron Man is similar in some ways, two have more contrasts than the similarities. As I mentioned before, the heroes are robots but Transformers are the ones from outer space. But Iron Man is a suit made by man and he is the hero. So the scale of the story is different since Transformers contains aliens and Iron Man covers the things that's in the Earth(even though it may be unrealistic). Also, in Transformers there is more than just one hero. A group of robots called the Autobots are one and the other one is a boy who is involved in the fight between the robots. In contrast, Tony Stark is the only hero in Iron Man. Furthermore, Transformers can change shapes to whatever they want, but Iron Man has only single designed suit. Also it is said that Iron Man is the richest hero ever, but the Autobots have no money or don't need any and the boy is just a boy.

So Transformers is about alien robots and a boy fighting against other bad alien robots, while Iron Man is about defeating bad guys with a high-tech robotic suit. Both heroes are unique since it's not like the hero movies with super powered human. And because both movies have different aspects, each has its own entertaining elements.

Two Different Celebrations: Halloween And Christmas

Think of the biggest celebrations in America. What comes to your mind? Maybe, Halloween and Christmas. They are celebrated huge in America. They look quite similar, and it is true, but has differences, too.

Halloween and Christmas doesn't come together easily that much, but it has similarities. First, it is the representative celebrations at America. Well, Christmas is not only for the states, but it sure is huge at America. Peoples prepare for them before months. They buy costumes and decorations for Halloween and prepare for Christmas tree woods and also decorations. They decorate their houses with lots of things, graves, skeletons, and jack-o-lanterns, or candles, Santa Claus dolls, socks and light bulbs. And second, it is a celebration that every one can enjoy. Everyone is happy in these days. Little boys, and grandfathers, every one! At Halloween, kids do trick-or-treat and adults give them candies smiling. Everyone enjoys wearing costumes of their own. Christmas, all the families gather together and have a warm dinner. They give presents each other, and say to everyone that you meet, "merry Christmas!"

But they definitely have differences, too. Christmas is almost a celebration all over the world, but Halloween, not exactly all over the world. There are many people who don't know what Halloween is. It is not very famous in Korea, too. And costumes! Christmas is not a day for costumes. Well, some might wear them like Santa Claus and some angels like that, but Christmas, they usually do not wear costumes like Halloween. The biggest difference is the origin of these. Halloween is a day that to kick out all the bad spirits out. And it is the day before All Saints Day in the Christian religion,(November 1st) and it came from the Celt's Samhain. If Halloween is for the dead, Christmas is to celebrate a birth, the famous man in the world, Jesus. For that at Christmas, people try to act like what Jesus did: "With love."

Both are very-loved celebrations, but have clear differences from its origin, and the ways they celebrate. Anyway, it is sure that if the nature of these doesn't change, these two will be loved forever.

Two Most Adorable Pets: A Dog and a Cat

Pets are animals cohabiting together with human beings, but they are more than animals. Today, more than ten million households keep a pet. As more and more people show their interest in having a pet, more diverse kinds of animals are sought as a pet. However, dogs and cats are still the most common house pets. They, as beloved pets, are differ greatly but are similar in some aspects.

A dog and a cat are two different species so they obviously are very distinct from each other. Starting with their major difference, cats and dogs have very distinctive differences. While dogs' fur is relatively long and thick, cats' hair is short and soft. Because dogs are bushy and shaggy, their hair often falls off. Another physical difference lies in their tails. Cat's tail is thin and long. In contrast, dog's tail is quite short and thick. On top of the difference in look, cats and dogs are dissimilar in terms of their personality. As we all admit, cats are arrogant and do not get along with people in a friendly way. Cats are loners! They rather stay alone independently. On the other hand, dogs are loyal, kind and friendly animal. That is why dogs always want enough attention and care. They are usually committed and devoted to their owner as well. Such distinguished physical features can affect the level of trainability. Dogs are considered to be easier animals to be trained. Lastly, dogs and cats are unlike in terms of their habits. Dogs are relatively clumsy, inattentive and messy. Because they are more active and social, the often play with all kinds of objects around them. Unlike cats, they do not keep themselves clean and there the owner's attention and care are needed. Cats, on the other hand, are neat and not filthy. By putting their hair, they keep their bodies clean.

Dogs and cats are two different species of animals but at the same time they are similar creatures in that they share something in common. As mentioned earlier, they are the top two most popular pets in the world. From insects to reptiles, types of pets vary greatly. However, cats and dogs are loved the most. Both cats and dogs adapt fast. Compared to other species of animals, they can better communicate, understand, and get along with human beings. In addition, dogs and cats relatively safe animals. Especially to their owners, they are not aggressive or hostile. Apart from their popularity, they are similar considering the developed sense. Although people think dogs have the most developed sense of smell, cats have no less developed smelling sense. Both cats and dogs not only have good sense of smell but also that of hearing. They are sensitive and alert as animals and sometimes give a cue for upcoming natural disasters.

In conclusion, cats and dogs are very different but at the same time similar. The aforementioned features do not necessarily tell everything about cats and dogs and nor do they can determine all kinds of cats and dogs. Whatever the differences or similarities are, these two beloved house pets deserve proper affection and treatment.

Seoul and Busan

There are two big cities in Korea. One is Seoul and the other is Busan. Seoul is one of the biggest cities in the world. According to the Wikipedia, Seoul is the fourth largest city in the world. Busan is the second largest city and the most famous summer vacation spot in Korea. Busan has beautiful beaches which are Haewoondae and Gwananri. These two cities have a lot in common; however, there are also big differences between two cities.

Seoul is the capital of Korea, which is the center of culture, economy, education, and politics. The most Korean major company's head offices are located in Seoul and there are most major universities, cultural facilities, the National Assembly, and almost every important things of the Korea. In addition to this, a quarter of entire populations of Korea live in the city, approximately more than 10,000,000 people. If there were not Seoul in Korea, Korea would be collapsed overnight because everything of Korea concentrates on Seoul. On the other hand, Busan is the center of international trade. Since Busan is located near the sea, there is big port in Busan. According to American Association of Port Authorities, Port of Busan is the fifth largest port in the world, when measured by container traffic. Thanks to the location, there are several beautiful beaches in Busan. Every single year millions of people enjoy their summer vacation there. According to a article, 800,000 people visited there a day. Similar to Busan, Seoul is also a very good tourist point because it has been the capital of Korea for 600 years so there are hundreds of traditional cultural assets such as Gyungbokgung, Changgyunggung, Duksugoong, Namdaemoon, DongDamoon, Jongmyo, and so on. Some of these cultural properties are designated as a World Heritage by UNESCO. Although there are no beach or sea, Seoul has one of the most beautiful river in the world. The river is Han river which is the rest area of Seoul citizen. The night sight of Han river is extremely fantastic.

When I saw Seoul and Busan for the first time, I was amazed by their size and beautiful place. Now I have lived in Seoul four years; however, I still have many places where I want to go in Seoul and although I visited Busan once, I cannot help loving Busan. They are most important cities not only in Korea but also in the world.

Two Café in Korea

Nowadays, many kinds of café have sprung up special kind of café. And there are two places that I remember, Starbucks and Soo-yeon San-bang. Starbucks is one of the most popular café in Korea while Soo-yeon San-bang is a unique traditional teahouse. When I went both café, I could feel not only the differences, but also the similarities between them.

There are some similarities that Starbucks and Soo-yeon San-bang are both in common, function of the place, café. They are both the places where people can drink various kinds of coffee or tee, chatting with friends or families. They both have rooms with tables, clerks who serve the coffee or tee, counters and ornaments for enjoying. In addition, people can have nice time and sometimes they can work or read books. On the other hand, Starbucks and Soo-yeon San-bang are different in appearance, mood and kinds of tee they serve. Soo-yeon San-bang is a kind of Korean house because it was actually the house of Lee Chung-Jun, one of the famous Korean writers, and in 1999, it was changed into café. It is the only one, not a chain store and is located quite far from the downtown. In there, people sit on the floor with sitting cushions and it has only 3 small rooms where only 6 tables in it. On the contrary, Starbucks is located almost anywhere in the Korean cities and often located in the center of the city.  It is usually occupied one floor of a building or sometimes, the whole buildings. In Starbucks, there are more tables than Soo-yeon San-bang and people sit with chairs. People should order at the counter and take coffee or tea by themselves. Second thing is the mood of the places. Atmosphere of Soe-yeon San-bang is antique and relaxed. Serving is also slowly and people usually talk in a silent voice. But Starbucks is more energetic, crowded and there are many people who work with their notebooks alone. Finally, in Starbucks, there are various kinds of coffee and tea and also sell some kinds of bread. But in Soo-yeon San-bnag, there is no coffee, but only few kinds of tee, especially traditional tea such as Ssanghwa tea and Chtysanthemum tea and benefits of each tea were written on the menu. So, people decoct tea and drink them slowly while people use straws to drink in Starbucks.

Both places were impressed for me because they have their own appearances and mood. Starbucks is more modern, energetic and busy while Soe-yeon San-bang is antique, traditional and slow. But, they are both the places where people come and spend nice time, drinking delicious beverage.

Two amusement parks

When I was a kid, amusement parks were a world full of wonder and adventure. I could meet characters from movies, eat special foods like cotton candy or huge lollipops, ride thrilling attractions, and see wonderful parades. As I grew up, amusement parks aren't as fascinating as it was before, but still I enjoy going to two similar but different parks-Lotte world and Everland- with my friends.

Both are one of the largest amusement parks in Korea. According to both websites, Lotte World has 42 attractions and Everland has 44. It includes thrillers like rollercoaster, waterslides, Viking, bumper-car and some other that kids can't ride, and other attractions that kids can also ride. In both parks, the rollercoasters, Atlantis(Lotte World) and T-Express(Everland), are the best attractions. As they're an amusement park, there are more than just attractions. Every season, they have different parades with themes such as samba, Halloween, Christmas and other special events around the year. One interesting thing is that many foreigners participate in these parades. Maybe the company prefers foreigners since they give some kind of exotic image and make the parade and the park's image more mystic.

Although the two are in the same category(amusement park), they are somewhat different. As Lotte World is in Seoul, almost in the middle of Jamsil, the size isn't large enough to put other things rather than the attractions. But as Everland is in Yong-in, it has plenty of space to put a safari, theme parks and some gardens. Also, in Everland, they have a big scale fireworks show at night. However, Lotte World, for its local limitations, they have laser shows instead of fireworks.

In conclusion, both amusement parks have many things to do, but are different a little. Lotte World is in Seoul, so it's easy to go ride some attractions. Everland has lots of things to see besides riding attractions, so it's good to go as a short trip. As each of them has its own advantages, we can choose where to go according to the purpose of the visit.

Two Interesting Flea Markets

What kind of images do you bring when you think of a flea market? I'm quite sure that many people might think a flea market just as an outdoor market selling used and old, and kind of dirty goods. But nowadays, many flea markets are changing to a place of attraction for many young people.

Flea markets have been held in a large field outside commonly. But they are moving to a much smaller indoor space, which helps them to be held regularly in spite of the rain or strong wind. And also they are becoming a party rather than market itself. There are two popular flea markets. One is a flea market called 'Bling Platoon Night Flea Market' and the other is called '500 flea market'. Both of them are held indoor but they are widely dissimilar in the mood. In the first one 'Bling Platoon Night Flea Market', there is live background music by DJ. And also there is a bar selling some simple snacks and drinks. Furthermore, there are some exhibitions and funny displays from new artists. And some musicians are doing small music concerts or performances in the middle or end of the market. But in the other one '500 flea market', people might feel as though they are in India or Thailand or even jjimjilbang – Korean dry sauna. This market sometimes holds an arm-wrestling competition and does exorcism, Korean ritual performance wishing being good luck. Such activities are not too popular nowadays, but it makes it all the more significant because they are part of our tradition. And there is a space for selling many kinds of Korean traditional food such as pajeon – Korean vegetable pancake, and makgeolli – Korean rice wine. But they are flea markets, so they are originally held for selling used goods. But the goods are not just used and old. Almost all of them are reformed and decorated by creative sellers. And also many foreigners are participating in the market and selling the goods from their own countries. So people can encounter very unique and special goods. And the boundary of goods is not limited to clothing or accessories just for fashion. There are many books or CDs which have a much value of possession. And for example, there is a stall selling photo albums which are collected from the seller's numerous traveling around the world. And what's better is all goods are sold at very reasonable prices. Whether they are reformed or not, it's a flea market! So with just 10,000won, people can buy two or three items.

Flea markets are becoming a place where people can go with their friends for an interesting experience over weekend. The first one that I introduced is in more contemporary mood and the other is in more traditional and quite mysterious mood. Add to enjoying the moods, people could get unique and special goods at the very reasonable prices in flea markets as well.

Two Elementary Schools

I was in second grade for twice; once at America and another at Korea. I came back to Korea in the middle term of the second grade. So I was able to experience different styles of educations at elementary schools. Both were named as "elementary school," same, but different.

In my memories, both of the class had many active programs. At the states, we used to go out to the playground near the school and searched for insects, leaves and played games. And we went to swimming pools a lot, too. Also at Korea, there were many things to do. Although we didn't go out far very much, but we did inside-activities like making lights and mini desks with Korean traditional paper, and making traditional masks, making bands of our own. Both had school performance day too. We prepared for dances or plays for months for that day, and showed them to our parents.

Despite these activities, there were differences between two schools. Teachers, and the atmosphere of school. When I came back to Korea and went school, it was hard for me to fit in. because Korean teachers were much stricter than America. When I did something wrong, they used to punish me strongly. So I was afraid of Korean teacher at first time. America's teachers were more gentle and sweet in my memories. And still I think Korean teachers are more authoritative. And the atmosphere, even though I've been to a private school, which is generally more flexible than public, if the America's school were like jelly, Korea's felt like wood. Strict like teachers. They used lots of books than pictures, lots of thing to write, and lots of home works and tests. I'm not sure if Americas' school was too loose, anyway for me, it was hard to do all of them.

It was a great experience to me to be able to compare both kinds of schools. The educational purpose is same, but it was able to realize its differences of its style. I can not decide which one is better, because both of them are good memories to me.

My Two "Hometowns"

When I was 15, I went to Tashkent, Uzbekistan to study abroad and lived there for four years. Because I spent the important period of my teenage years there, I feel like it's my second "hometown." Now I am living in Seoul. Although I was not born in Seoul, I can say it's my hometown because I spent most of life in Seoul except four years in Tashkent. In that aspect, Tashkent and Seoul, as my "hometowns," differ greatly but share some similarities.

Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan and Seoul, the capital of Korea are distinctive in three aspects. First, in terms of the size, Tashkent is two times bigger than Seoul. Seoul is the largest cities in South Korea but compared to Tashkent, it is a small city. Despite the small size, Seoul's population is ten times as much. Second, the weather in Seoul is very humid and has high precipitation. In contrast, it is quite dry and deserted in Tashkent. Unlike Seoul, spring and fall seasons are very short in capital city of Uzbekistan. Last distinguished feature of two cities is the fashion of local people. Uzbeks usually cling to rather traditional clothes with very colorful patterns. In case of Koreans, however, modern clothing of somewhat westernized style is common. People in Seoul care a lot about outlook and pursue varied, fashionable and trendy clothes.

Despite their differences, Seoul and Tashkent have some things in common. As a capital city of the country, both cities are not located at the center of the country. Seoul is located at the very western part of South Korea and Tashkent is situated at the edge of northeastern part of Uzbekistan. Another similarity they share is the skyscrapers. Even though the structures and designs differ, the buildings in Tashkent are high like those in Seoul. It gives me a feeling that I am in a developed country. Both In Tashkent and Seoul, buildings are sophisticated and fancy. On top of that, both cities are similar in that there are a lot of foreigners. It is not hard to spot a foreigner in Seoul. Similarly, in Tashkent, it is easy to see people from different countries. Thus, in both cities I can feel the global atmosphere.

In short, the two different but at the same time similar cities- Seoul and Tashkent are my two "hometowns" that mean a lot to me. It is about eight-hour trip from Seoul to Tashkent, the two cities have some features in common. Seoul is crowded with people and traffic; yet, the way people dress up gives lively and fresh impression. On the other hand, Tashkent is a city of history where people value tradition and culture. It is amazing to be in both two cities.

Bad Influence of Television on Children

Today, millions of people have at least one babo sangja- "a fool box" in Korean. Can you guess what I meant by babo sangja? Yes, it is a cubic device used as a medium of telecommunication and one of the best inventions ever in the history of human beings- TELEVISION! It would be difficult for modern people to imagine their lives without TV as it is deeply seeped into their daily lives. However, this wonderful "box" is negatively influencing children for many reasons. Television is harmful for children in terms of education and growth.

Unlike in the past, a great number of children are watching TV these days. Yet, broadcasting companies are not paying enough attention to young targets. There is no strict regulation or control of children watching programs that are for adults. Violence, sexuality, race and gender stereotype, drug and alcohol abuse are common themes of television programs. Since children are not fully developed and therefore vulnerable, they are likely to accept everything they see and hear. Children who see violent action movies or dramas, for instance, might become aggressive, behaving exactly the same in their group. Kids who see many programs where adults speak inappropriate languages might immitate them in their real lives. In addition to bad influence on their development, kids' health deteriorates by watching TV for so long. The Campagin for Korea's Kids conducted a survey and found that Korean children watch an average of three to four hours of television on a daily basis. Watching TV does not require either physical exercise. Thus, children who just sit for hours and hours watching TV instead of hanging out with their friends outside have greater chances to become obese or harm their eyes. One recent study from Child's Health showed that the kids who watch TV have 55 percent higher risk of becoming overwight than those who do not watch TV. Also, what is worse is that children often times get to eat a lot when they are engrossed in something since they cannot divide their attention to their eating at the same time; especially interesting programs like cartoon is played on TV. Although TV might be entertaining and informative sometimes, watching TV is such an unhealthy activity for youth, considering the above factors.

In conclusion, there is no doubt that children are adversely affected by television. It is undeniable that in the era of technology, TV plays a pivotal role in men's lives. Yet, contents of TV has negative impact on kids and watching activity keeps kids away from good health. There is a need to rescure children from the danger of TV, before it is too late.

Hydrogen-powered vehicles

What's the first thing that pops into your mind when you think of a hydrogen-powered vehicle? It may be the car. As fossil fuels made serious environmental problems, people started to find an alternative energy to replace the fossil fuels and the most possible energy became to be the hydrogen. Hydrogen-powered car seems to be the future of the environmentally friendly auto industry.

Hydrogen is a green energy, since it doesn't emit harmful materials to the air besides nitrogen oxide.  Also as it is abstracted from water and recycled into water, there is no need to be concerned of depletion and pollution. However, in order to get hydrogen energy, a huge amount of electricity is needed. As we get the power from pollutive electricity generation, the process of acquiring the required amount of hydrogen may cause more pollution. In addition, the hydrogen storage tank is too big and heavy to put into a car. As a result, many countries stopped doing research in this area. There is another alternative energy rather than hydrogen. It's liquefied petroleum gas. LPG is one of the alternative energy which is now used in buses in Korea and some other things. It is a clean energy, but it can't be recycled and it has the risk of explosure. Recently, a LPG bus exploded because of the deadly hot weather. So, it's an unstable energy to use as a fuel. A 'fuel cell vehicle' was invented by a Canadian company named 'Ballard Power Systems' and solved the storage problem. So, in spite of the disadvantages, we should keep on searching for a way to take advantage of hydrogen.

For now, hydrogen seems to be the most possible alternative energy. It may take some time to develop and commercialize the technology, but we should keep on working on the hydrogen-power if we think of the future environment.

International Marriage

Today, there is no boundary among nations. We can meet international people more easily because international exchange is activated more than past time; for example, we can make a international friends through social networks such as twitter and facebook. In addition, there are a lot of international people in Korea. I also can get along with more international students than ever before in H.U.F.S. Therefore, it is not unusual to marry someone from another culture and there are several advantages of international marriage.

First, international marriage brings diversity of culture. In fact, Korean society has a lack of diversity in culture because Korea is a single-race nation. As the variety of culture increase, we can experience foreign culture without going abroad; for instance, we can eat  international food easily and enjoy their traditional culture. Next, we can learn the strength point of the other culture when the international people increase by marring someone with a different nationality. For example, Koreans are impetuous but Chinese are relatively relaxed so we can learn chinese easygoing and we can also learn Japanese politeness. Finally, we can solve the problem which is a decrease in population. The decrease in population is the most serious problem in Korea. As more people marry with foreign people, the population might have somewhat increased. Of course, there is a problem of international marriage because most Koreans have prejudices against it. They have a negative view of international people and the multi-cultural family. However, with the society organizations and government efforts, their prejudices are changing.

international marriage has a lot of merits. It makes our culture rich. To reinforce this advantage, we must get rid of the prejudice of international people and multi-cultural family. If so, entire our society members can be happy and our culture will be flourishing.

Testing in school

Students are usually being stressful when the mid-term or final exams come and it is also an embarrassing situation when the test paper is announced. However, we always take exams almost from the elementary school to the university, and maybe after that such as getting jobs. It's necessary for school to have tests because it can be a standard for evaluating students. Yet, there are some problems about testing in school, especially in Korea.

Some of the aspects, testing in school can't be an exact evaluation system. Most of the cases, all exam questions are multiple choice.  Actually, it can be the most reasonable way to evaluate students that how much they spend time to prepare for the exam. It is not only easy, but also fair way to grade for school. because students can just choose the answer among the five questions. Even though they do not know the answer, they can check the marks by just choosing one and sometimes, the number that is chosen can be the true answer. In this kind of situation, we cannot say that it is an objective evaluating system. In addition, there's a possibility that students are set in conventional way of thinking, it can lower the students' ability to think. In Korea, students have only few essay questions. Even the entrance exam for the university is also multiple choices. As the students enter the university, they meet a challenge when they take their first exam, it is totally different from the middle school or high school. Actually, there are many Korean university students with this problem. On the other hand, in France, they have an essay test called 'baccalauréat'. Some people say that it is lack of objectiveness, and almost subjective because there is no exact standard for evaluation. But, I think our school testing system had better to take some of this kind of forms for students to develop their thinking ability. Finally, sometimes, students can easily cover the exams just by short studying at night before the exam, so they have a tendency to study just for a short time, not daily routine. I think the primary purpose of testing in school is to supervise students that they study regularly and check they get the whole concept that they learn. So, I think it's also good to have quiz to check for them. It is also good for students because if they can do small amount of study each they, they do not have to stay the whole night just for the one-hour test.

Testing in school is vital for students to check and evaluate their ability. But, sometimes there can be a problem, so, we should supplement the ways of testing system as I wrote upward. Then, we can chase two hares at once, fairness and the improvement in studying.
